Consumer personal spending climbed 0.6% in September, the Commerce Department said Friday.
The increase followed a 0.2% gain in August.
The September gain matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.
Personal incomes edged up 0.1% after declining 0.1% the previous month.
A rise in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
