High-profile partnership between CITT and MBA games increases

TORONTO, Ont.— Since 1988, the Canadian MBA Games continue to draw hundreds of future business leaders who compete with each other for top spots in three categories—academics, sport and spirit. Lasting a weekend and drawing MBA students from over 20 universities across Canada, the Canadian MBA Games bring together the best and brightest to put their skills to the test, said CITT in a release.

This year, the games took place from January 4-5, and were hosted by the Schulich School of Business at York University. Research continues to find that financial performance of businesses is more closely linked to uninterrupted supply chain operations than any other major factor.

"CITT, known in industry for expertise and thought leadership in SCL, was tapped for a second consecutive year to develop the Strategy case study with a focus on supply chain logistics," noted the release.

The partnership seems like a perfect fit. Personal Spending Increases 0.1% in October

Consumer personal spending edged up 0.1% in October, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

The slight increase followed a revised 0.7% gain in September that was larger than previously estimated.

The October gain was below economists’ forecasts of a 0.3% increase, Bloomberg reported.

Personal incomes rose 0.4%, the largest increase since March, after rising 0.1% the previous month.

A rise in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.

Echo Global Logistics' 3Q Income Increases

Echo Global Logistics said its third-quarter profit grew 30.2% to $3.4 million, or 15 cents per share, from $2.6 million, or 12 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 40% to a record $159 million, the Chicago-based third-party logistics company said late Thursday.

Echo also reported record shipment volume of 356,000, a 30% increase from a year ago.

In a statement, CEO Doug Waggoner said the company expects to see approximately 40% year-over-year growth heading into the fourth quarter.
