Novacab plans service facility

2014-01-17

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Novacab International Inc has picked the location for its new product installation and service centre.

Headquartered in Sherbrook, Que., Novacab produces thermal battery-based autonomous heating and cooling systems. According to the company, the units will supply air conditioning or heating for between six and 10 consecutive hours without the need to run the engine.

The company's new location is in Sorel-Tracy, Que. Novacab said the location was chosen because it is on the truck route between Montreal and the US border.

Novacab spent $1.4 million to purchase the land and building, and to buy new equipment and inventory.

Isuzu introduces new extended warranty plans

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Isuzu has announced it is now offering an enhanced extended warranty on its diesel-powered trucks in both the US and Canada.

The new warranty applies to the 2013 Isuzu N-Series diesels sold on or after Oct. 1, 2012. The warranty has been expanded to include fuel injectors and high-pressure lines, the common rail, turbocharger, alternator, starter, water pump, rear drive axle, front I-beam axle and cross-members. Plans are now available to cover 60 months/150,000 miles or 60 months/200,000 miles, whichever comes first.

“We have a reputation for offering the best warranty coverage in the industry,” said Shaun Skinner, executive vice-president and general manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Our new extended warranty for 2013 diesel trucks will strengthen that reputation while it provides additional protection and peace of mind for our owners.”

Isuzu’s basic limited warranty covers up to 36 months, regardless of mileage.

“Our new extended warranty allows owners to increase their warranty coverage based on their own individual usage,” Skinner said.

Volvo Plans Truck Investments in China, India

Volvo AB is planning investments in India and China to bolster its truck business and meet demand from those markets, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a company executive.

The truck unit’s China investments will include opening research and development centers and expanding distribution and retail, Volvo Group Senior Vice President Par Ostberg said in an interview in Singapore.

In India, Volvo plans to build plants such as one for medium-duty engines, Bloomberg reported.

Volvo is only seeing a “very small impact” on Chinese demand from rising interest rates, said Ostberg, who joined the Volvo in 1990.

Volvo AB, the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks, is scheduled to release its third-quarter earnings this week.
