Ryan Dunn, co star of the MTV show Jackass was killed in a fiery car crash near Philadelphia yesterday morning around 3 A.M. Dunn along with a passenger who has yet to be identified both died when his Porch gt3 left the roadway at an incredibly high speed, it jumped a guard rail and went into trees where is was totally destroyed. Upon impact the car burst into flames and set the woods on fire. Police upon arriving at the scene tried in vain to get to the two men but the fire was too intense. Seconds after police retreated the gas tank exploded and incinerated everything including the remains of the two occupants.
Ryan had Tweeted pictures of himself drinking with friends at a local Philadelphia night club earlier that evening, alcohol has not been ruled out in this crash as of yet, a state police spokesman said it will take a week to ten days for the toxicology reports to come back. A manager from the club where Ryan was drinking said that he thought the actor had about three beers and a few shots but didn’t appear to be intoxicated. Lets see, three beers is three ounces of alcohol and three shots are the same. That’s six ounces and depending on how long he was there and the fact that the average male body processes an ounce of consumed alcohol an hour, he very well could have been intoxicated.
The fact that state police estimated the crash scene to have been created by a vehicle going close to 130 MPH tells me that he was not totally in control of his faculties. Bam Margera who co-starred with Dunn in Jackass was distraught and unable to speak to reporters after hearing of his friends death. Movie critic Roger Ebert shortly after the news of Dunn’s death tweeted something to the effect of “Friends don’t let jackass’s drive drunk”! Ebert caught all kinds of hell over the tweet and has been on the apology tour all day. Dunn’s Jackass co-star Bam Margera let Ebert have it full force in a tweet reply of sorts. I cant print what he said here but it was more than called for. Nothing is sacred anymore, people even assault you when your dead.
In some short Nascar news, Joe Gibbs Racing was fined today for the unapproved oil pans on all three of their cars from Michigan. Actually all three crew chiefs were fined $50,000 a piece and put on probation until December 31st. All three car chiefs and the director of competition were also put on the same probation. It wasn’t the slap on the wrist that I was expecting so I am satisfied. No points were deducted as the violation was found before the race took place.
Stay safe out there
