Software Firms Partner to Cut Invoicing Time for Transportation Companies

Quadrant Software on Monday announced a partnership with document imaging company Real Vision Software to reduce invoicing time for transportation and distribution companies.

The companies have launched the Mobile Signature Capture System, which allows companies to send out invoices for products and services the instant those products are delivered and signed for, said Quadrant, which provides document output management software.

The system enables companies to create forms from IBM i-based applications, route them throughout an organization or to customers, archive those documents electronically and make them available for both remote and tethered digital signature capture on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, the company said.

TruckWeight offers free Virtual Weigh Station software

HALIFAX, N.S. -- On-board weigh scale manufacturer TruckWeight has developed free software that allows customers to display and record axle and vehicle weights in real-time on laptop or desktop computers.

Virtual Weigh Station, available for download from www.truckweight.com, allows customers to monitor weights via their computer from up to 500 feet away as a truck is being loaded/unloaded or arriving/departing from the yard. Customers can use the software in an office at a loading site or on a laptop computer in the cab.

The software is enabled by a TruckWeight received with a USB cable that connects to any Windows-based computer. Customers can track the weights of multiple vehicles and generate reports in an Excel format.

"Now fleets and owner/operators can record and monitor weights as rigs are loading, unloading, leaving and entering their home base," said Peter Panagapko, president of TruckWeight. "Loaders can select one or as many rigs as they have and see and record the weights as the trucks are being loaded."

Panagapko said the software will be particularly useful for logging and refuse operations, where multiple rigs are often loaded at one job site. Fleets can also use the software to track their loading history.

New Xata Corp. Software Allows Fleets to Pair Compliance, Productivity Apps

Xata Corp. has unveiled a product called ComplianceConnect that allows fleet managers to add the compliance component of driver productivity software without paying extra costs.

This move is a major development because fleet managers generally have used proprietary driver productivity software for about five or six years, Christian Schenk, Xata’s vice president for product marketing, told Transport Topics.

But with changes looming in trucking regulations, motor carriers that haven’t already done so must purchase compliance software to ensure drivers and fleets meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules, Schenk said.

With ComplianceConnect, fleet managers won’t have to buy anything when they use Xata’s electronic onboard recorder product, Xata Turnpike, Schenk said, because ComplianceConnect allows Xata Turnpike to work with driver productivity TMS software — even products developed by other companies.
